Remembering a Legend: Rod Taylor
As routine I will post the birthdays for many classic movie stars. I found myself saddend thinking of loss of a legend a few days ago. Rod Taylor’s passing comes just shy of what would have been his 85th birthday which would have been today. TCM has secheduled a tribute featuring several of his films for January 29th.
Actor and local favorite Dante DiPaolo dies at 87
LOS ANGELES, Calif. | Actor and dancer Dante DiPaolo, 87, died Tuesday, following a short illness, family members said on Wednesday.
DiPaolo was the widower of singer/actress Rosemary Clooney.

Karen Black, of Easy Rider, Five Easy Pieces and Nashville fame, dies at age 74
Karen Black, the prolific actress who appeared in more than 100 movies and was featured in such counterculture favourites as “Easy Rider,” “Five Easy Pieces” and “Nashville,” has died in Los Angeles.
Black’s husband, Stephen Eckelberry, says the actress died Thursday from complications from cancer. She was 74.

Famed animator John Wilson dies
LONDON British-born animator and producer John David Wilson, famed for the “Grease” and “Lady and the Tramp” films, has died at the age of 93, said his wife on Wednesday.

Famed Animator John David Wilson Dies at 93 – The Hollywood Reporter
John David Wilson, a pioneering animation producer and director who worked on everything from Lady & the Tramp and an Igor Stravinskyballet film to Grease, died June 20 in a nursing home in Blackpool, England. He was 93.The Englishman, schooled in the art of animation by David Hand, the director of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) and Bambi (1942), founded Fine Arts Films in the 1950s.

Spanish Director Miguel Morayta Dies in Mexico at 105
Spanish film director Miguel Morayta, considered one of the great figures of the golden age of Mexican filmmaking, has died in Mexico. He was 105.
According to what Domingo Ruiz Robidio, a film director and the head of the Spain’s Elgranturbinax publishing house, which published several books about Morayta, the film icon died on Wednesday.
Widow of Jack Hawkins dies aged 94
Doreen Hawkins, the widow of the late actor Jack Hawkins, surprised her friends late in her life when she disclosed how she had very nearly married Peter Cushing.Mandrake is sorry to hear of the death of Doreen Hawkins, the widow of the late actor Jack Hawkins, by whom she had three children. She was 94.
